Born Julian Sage Burke, 21 November 2001 in Laguna Beach, California, Sage has surfed since he was three years old with his father, Douglas Burke. In his film debut as the lead role in “Surfer”, Sage’s experience as a professional surfer allowed him to perform all the surfing exhibitions and stunts filmed for the movie, from the ages of 5 to 14. As an actor, Sage has studied Martial Arts and method acting by way of his father.

Sage’s first experience with big waves was at the age of 11 at the “Wedge” in Newport Beach, California near his home. The following year Sage surfed a big wave session at Todos Santos Island, Mexico.
At 13, Sage returned to Mexico for his first big wave session at
Puerto Escondido, followed by another first at 
Mavericks, Half Moon Bay, California.

Sage is featured riding waves at all of these locations in the film, the biggest wave being Todos Santos Island at the age of 14. Sage lives in Newport Beach, California with his father, Douglas Burke.
